No Weigh In Wednesday

I have decided NOT to weigh in today, I have had an horrendouse couple of days and my stress levels are on the roof never mind the ceiling!!  So I am not adding more stress by weighing in when I know I have been eating utter crap this week. Healthy eating started again ast night when my beloved made me the most delicous chicken salad.

I have been completing TWO gift Scrapbooks over the past few days, and it has been a work of love but SOooooooooooooooooooo stressful. They were finished last night at 10:45pm.  I then went to check on the small 8 x 8 one before wrapping it, only to find four of the pockets had crinkled badly and I went into panic mode. My darling calmed me down and talked me through possibliites, I had to dig out another 8 x 8 album and pinch some of the pockets to replace the crinkled one's.  Have you ever dismantled a scrapbook in panic mode?  It's a nightmare.  Anyway we sorted it and went to bed, but I kept waking in a panic and eventually decided to get up at 4am.

When Ralph got up at 5am, he looked at the 12 x 12 album and the same thing had happened with the first page.  I thought I was going to have a heart attack!! In all the years I have been scrapbooking this has never happened to me. I was beginning to feel cursed, again my darling talked me off the ceiling at a time he should have been on his way to work....

I had to raid another album for some new pockets and then dismantle the original book, I was in total panic, couldn't breathe, heart pounding, nauseous, I thought I was going to pass out. My husband calmly helped me put it back together only to find we had put it back together back to front, I completely freaked, stupid I know but I lost it badly.  My poor husband did not deserve my freak out, yet again he calmly dismantled the book and we put it back together the correct way.  Both books are on the dining table now complete and read to give to two special people.

We are wracking our brains trying to work out what caused the crinkling, it is a complete mystery to me.  There seems to be a pattern in the plastic that is not related to anything on the pages that were in them??

So maybe you cannot understand some the the stress that is about in this house right now. It may seem trivial in the scheme of life to get so worked up about Scrapbooks!!  They should have been finished well before now, but with Emily's illness taking almost three weeks out and then my birthday week, something that should have been a leisurely pleasure, became a rushed burden.  I hope it doesn't show in the gifts.

Struggling...

My MoJo has deserted me, have got a fridge full of healthy food but I am craving crap.
I have got to get focussed otherwise I am going to fall into a ravine of carbs, cake, chocolate, cookies.

April 1st sounds a good day to stop acting the fool, I am hoping this cough and cold will have started to leave me by then and I can get motivated into a better frame of mind. Thaty sounds wrong, I am very happy, I have had a wonderful time since Emily recovered. I have had a great birthday celebration that is still continuing, cards and gifts are still arriving. So it is not a better frame of mind I need, it is a refreshed attitude.  It has been so easy to slip into bad habits.

Will Power has been on holiday and must come home soon.

Saturday Sentiments and Sunday Sunshine and Scrappy Bit's!!

Saturday night was quite an emotional one. The senior partner at the practice I work at, is retiring on March 31st. We girl's in reception took him  and his lovely wife out for a meal last night.  It was a very enjoyable evening the food and the company were excellent.  He was delighted with the framed photo's we presented to him. Wait till he gets the scrapbook on Wednesday, I hope he will be more than delighted:o)

When we arrived at the restaurant, there were flower arrangements at each place setting except five. He and his wife had arranged for each of us to have a small gift from them, it was a lovely thought and we were very emotional.
It was a very pleasant evening that will be talked about for a long long time.

The clocks went forward this morning, so a late night followed by an early morning start, minus one hour, was a bit of a struggle this morning.  It was worth it, we drove to Anglesey so I could join Trish's crop and Ralph could go walking. It was a perfect day for walking, a sunny first day of British Summer Time so Ralph had a great day. I had a lovely day having a natter with Sam, Pat and Trish, this was a very small group today and it was great.  Only trouble was, not much scrapbooking was done.. I have my work cut out ttomorrow..

We then went back to Trish and Phil's for coffee, it is their 41st wedding anniversary tomorrow.  If ever any marriage was an example of living the vow's this one is. Phil is Brain Injured after an accident seven years ago and life and marriage changed  in a split second for them.It has been a difficult seven years, but love always triumph's in their home.
Trish is a loving devoted wife
and carer, a doting and giving mum and nana,
a loving and
supportive friend and I am so proud of her.

It is wonderful to have such friends.
Happy Anniversary Fish &Trill

I asm putting the finishing touch to my account of the weekend and will post sometime over this coming weekend. I have had another delightful day today. Was invited to Jazmine's school assembly this morning to enjoy a very colourful and powerful Samba Band Recital.  She has really enjoyed playing the Samba drums this term. After that we went into Liverpool and had a very pleasant afternoon, the weather was delightful. We went to order my new craft shed, it will be delivered on Easter Tuesday, so there is a fair amount of work to be done. preparing the ground etc. As well as being RUTHLESS in sorting out the contents of my current shed. So guess what we are doing for Easter?

Weigh in Wednesday

Yes I did it...put on 7.5lb's....feeling uncomfortable now, don't want to be eating rubbish any more.
It was fun to party, it carried on again today, loads of cake and biscuits but it didn't do anything for me.
We are now off work for six days now and want to get back to simple real food.  Ralph went shopping this afternoon and stocked up on salad and fruit.  So it is back to the good stuff for us now.

I have been trying to put together the story of my weekend but there is so much to tell you I don't know where to start? I will start the tale tomorrow and may finish in a week..lol

Thank you so very much to Dawne at (365 Days to A New Me) for a fabulous new award:o)
I am delighted to have the award and for her comment about me, thank you Dawne you are a lovely, lovely girl:o)

I will post it tomorrow and follow the instructions carefully:o)

I am going to order my new shed tomorrow and then the fun begins, decanting all my stuff out of my current shed, into the shoebox(we won't be able to move!!) This is so Ralph can move the current shed to make room for the new one.  I am NOT looking forward to it.

Off to bed now..Good night God Bless.

Soundtrack of My Life Up to Sixty

I am still very happy and euphoric after my wonderful birthday celebrations and I don't want to come down to earth. I had a very nice little celebration in work today and received a very welcome Amazon Gift Voucher.

I have not got round to getting time for catching up with blogs and I apologise.  I think things may simmer down by Saturday. The Last Day of My Fifties....

I have had a great day today, I retired:o)
I had to retire, leave work for a day then for the next
four weeks I will work just sixteen hours a week. Then
I go back part time doing twenty five hours a week.

I am on the eve of being a Senior Citizen, a State Pensioner.
From tomorrow I am entitled to free prescriptions, free bus travel
anywhere in England.  I will also get a winter fuel allowance
in November.

I have been spoilt rotten in work and at my hairdressers.
My hairdresser Sue, bought me a chocolate cupcake, put
a candle in it and got all the girls in the salon to sing
Happy Birthday. She also bought me flowers and a birthday balloon.
I am so touched by this lovely young woman.

In work I received loads more flowers, several bottle bags and
numerous gifts and cards.  Then when I arrived home there was a delivery
of more flowers from my lovely mother in law and sister in law.
Then my darling took me out for tea.

He has warned me that this weekend is going to be busy.
He has things planned but is not telling me anything.
I am a little nervous about it all but also delighted,
I have never had such a fuss made of me and my birthday before.
I am overwhelmed with this show of love, affection and good will.

So I may not get time with my laptop in the next couple of days,

The Joy of the Lord IS My Strength

I was Very Humbled to recieve this award from

Sorry I still cannot do that neat linking thing:o(

I cannot tell you how I feel about this award without crying.
I have been trying to find my way back to
My Lord over the past year or so.
Then when Emily was so ill, I clung to Him with a fervour
that started a fire that will Never be extinguished.

This award says it all, a simple sentence, with a simple message.
I do have Joy in my heart and my Lord put it there.

Thank You Deb.
Thank You My Holy Father.

A Little bit of Nonsense That Made Me Smile

I WAS BRUNG UP PROPER !!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE

1940's, 50's and early 60's

First, we survived being born to mothers who drank while they carried us
and lived in houses made of asbestos
took aspirin, ate blue cheese, raw egg products,
loads of bacon and processed meat, tuna from a can,
and didn't get tested  while they carried us
and lived in houses made of asbestos. They didn't get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer.

Then after that trauma, our baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes,
we had no helmets or shoes, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle...
Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonalds , KFC, Subway or Nandos.
Even though all the shops closed at 6.00pm and didn't open on the weekends, somehow we didn't starve to death!

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy Toffees, Gobstoppers, Bubble Gum and some bangers to blow up frogs with. We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of old prams and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. We built tree houses and dens and played in river beds with matchbox cars.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo Wii , X-boxes, no video games at all, no 999 channels on SKY ,
no video/dvd films, no mobile phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

Only girls had pierced ears!
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
You could only buy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns at Easter time...
We were given air guns and catapults for our 10th birthdays,
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!
Mum didn't have to go to work to help dad make ends meet!

RUGBY and CRICKET had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! Getting into the team was based on MERIT.
Our teachers used to hit us with canes and gym shoes and bully's always ruled the playground at school.
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law!
Our parents didn't invent stupid names for their kids like 'Kiora' and 'Blade' and 'Ridge' and 'Vanilla'

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL !
And YOU are one of them!
CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good. And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.

Last Weigh In Before My Birthday....(Happy St Patricks Day)

I didn't do it, 60 x 60 did not happen.
I knew several weeks ago it wouldn't be done.
I have lost 37.5 pounds and 34.5 inches.
I have dropped four dress sizes and one shoe size.
I am fitter than I have ever been, which is amazing!!

So am I happy?
Yes!! I am Very Happy;o)

There is a slight disappointment that I didn't get to goal,
but one of the most imprtant things I have learnt here in
weird and wonderful Blogland is Life is Wonderful
and although losing weightto get healthy is important.
~It is not the be all and end all~

I have gain much on this blogging journey,
my life has been enriched by strangers who offer:
friendship, advice, laughter, support and prayers and healing thoughts.
This journey is one I am so happy to have taken, with it's detour's,
hold up's and breakdown's. The view's and vista's have ranged from
the delightful to the magnificent, the weird, the wonderful, the quirky,
all making the ride an utter joy.
I love the honesty in Blogland,
some use it like the confessional box in the Catholic Church,
some use it as therapy/counselling.
But all inspire and encourage with words and pictures
that touch the heart and mind.

Usually at the end of a long journey, I like to enjoy a shower,
change into something comfortable, have a cup of tea and relax.
This journey is almost over, what do I do now?
Carry on with 60 x 60? Or head off somwhere new?
I have thought of starting a new blog, not centred on weigh loss,
but would I lose to many friends?
Decisions Decisions Decisions.....

Happy St Patricks Day.
Hail Glorious St Patrick Dear St of Our Isle.
My Irish heritage comes to the fore on March 17th.
My dad passed away on this day twenty five years ago.
He made sure we never forgot the date of his passing.

Sláinte

An Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields and,

Until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand

Important People in My Life

We all have important people in our lives and we are all guilty of taking those people for granted.
Here are two Very Important People in my life. Each at opposite ends of  my Rainbow.

My Youngest Grandchild My Emily. This past fortnight has taught me never to take for granted the health of my family and friends. This beautiful little girl came so close to becoming an Angel it is still heart wrenching to think about. We are all amazed at her astoundingly quick recovery.

In my work as a doctor's receptionist, I see many families with multiple health problems. I have always counted my blessings. With each grandchild that has arrived safely, I worry a little bit more that the odd's on something going wrong health wise are getting shorter. I now have nine grandchildren. The odd's got very short on Thursday March 4th but thankfully as you can see, from this photo taken yesterday, all bets are off and we have a very pretty winner.

All of my grandchildren are so important to me and  Emily's illness has taught me a lesson on a couple of levels. To treasure every moment, to thank God for the health and well being of my family and to take care of myself so I can have many active years to enjoy my grandchildren and maybe some future great grandchildren;o)...LoL

At the other end of my Rainbow is my Very Best Friend Trish. My friend, counsellor, personal shopper, soulmate and craft buddy. I needed her hugs this weekend, it was one of the things that kept me going as I was being strong for my daughter and my family.  I knew I could collapse into Trish's arms and show my weakness in a very safe haven. We have been friends for many years and could write a couple of books between us abut our life experiences and what we have seen each other through.  This weekend we have laughed a lot, cried in Starbucks.... We have talked and shopped a lot, we have counselled each other, we have hugged and tugged each other.  Every woman should have a Very Important Person in their life called Trish.  I will Never Ever take her freindship for granted

Happy Mothering Sunday

This has been the Best Mothers Day in a long time.
Emily is Home, Healthy and Happy!!!

My Daughter and Son In Law are delighted to say the least, Mike was saying this morning
he can't believe that just a week ago, we all were living in fear of what would come next.
God is Good and the Power of Prayer is the strongest force on Earth.

I had a Birthday night out with eighteen great women last night, some work mates, some friends and some relatives. It was a great night and we were all able to let our hair down, so to speak,  after a very stressed week.

From top top bottom:

My sister Julia and Me
My Trish and Me
Clair, Me, Janet (Old and Dear Friend) and Helen
My Girls and Me
Margie and Me.

There are a loads of other photos, this is just a few. It is so good to see so many smiles.

I will be catching up on blogs over the next few days and giving some special thank you's out also.  There are some wonderful strangers out there who have become beautiful friends...

Up's and Down's of Emily....

After two good days, Emily has had a rough day today.
We are still waiting on even more blood results.
She has been vomiting again this evening.
She is very quiet again.

We hope this is not a step backwards.

Please keep her in your prayers tonight.

Weigh in Wednesday Didn't Happen

Weighing in is the last thing on my mind at present, but I am sure I have put weight on.
We haven't ate a proper meal since Emily took ill. it's been a sandwich here and there or beans on toast.
I cannot recall eating anything much apart from what has been put in my hand.

My family has been rocked to it's foundation's
and we have clung on hard to each other.
Our family baby is improving daily and we are hoping for
good news tomorrow when the results of her latest tests come back.
She has astounded all of us and the doctors and nurses
and I truly believe we have been blessed with a miracle.

It was her big sister  Jessica's 10th birthday today, she has not had the birthday she deserves but we will make it up to her as soon as we have Emily back home safe and well. Today was a quick tea party, mummy and daddy came home for a couple of hours while my sister Julia stayed with Emily. But my poor daughter could not relax away from her baby and went back to the hospital straight after the birthday candles were blown out. She tried to explain to Jess, but she is only a little girl and it broke my heart again, seeing her face after they had returned to the hospital.

So you see weight and weighing in are not any where near the top of my agenda at the moment.

Thank you for your kind words, prayers and thoughts, you raise me up more than you will ever know.

A Little Miracle

Emily is a little miracle and I am so thankful.

This was Emily on Sunday, wired up to a heart monitor and dialysis machine and a couple of other gadgets. Four lots of fluid being pumped into her, dextrose, antibiotics and two others I am not sure about.

She was a very sick little girl.

Tonight I spent three hours with a little miracle, these are photo's to prove it:o)

Is this a MIRACLE or what?

She has been taken off dialysis for a couple of hours to see how she goes and she can have what ever food she wants at the moment.  These Jaffa Cakes and Cheddars are particular favourite's o Emily's.  When I  gave them to her you would think it was Christmas she was so excited.  She hugged the Cheddars like a teddy bear...    She was allowed two Jaffa Cakes and can have some Cheddars tomorrow.

She is having a full body scan tomorrow to check there is no organ failure.  Please pray this scan comes back normal. The doctors and nurses at Alder Hey are very pleased with her progress. We her family are delighted to say the least.

I was telling my daughter about the prayers being said and the healing thoughts being sent out for Emily by my friends here in Blogland and she was astounded. I have told her I will show her the comments left by so many kind and loving people, when they come home.  She asked me to thank each and everyone of you for your kindness, your faith and your caring for strangers.  So I do Thank You with all my heart, I know it has been the power of pray that has brought this precious child back from the brink.

Emily and Pizza

Emily woke this morning and said she can't stop thinking about Pizza!!
A fabulous sign on an improvement. I have just spoken to her on the phone:o)
She sounds GREAT, she has has a small piece of toast and a drink of juice.

Thank God I think the worst is over.

Thank you again for your prayers and kindness, keep them coming please.

My Emily is Still Very Poorly

There has been a slight improvement
and spirits have been lifted a little.
She is a little fighter and I am am so proud of Emily
and her Mummy and Daddy and big sister Jessica.
They are being so strong for Em and for all of the family

Emily's Pottassium levels are now in the normal range.
She has had two blood transfusions and is still on dialysis.

Emily is like Sleeping Beauty, drifting in and out and smiling
at our chatter, hugs and kisses. She  is so tiny,
one wonders where she is getting the strength from.
She is proof of the power of Pray and Healing Thoughts.

Thank you so very much for your comments,
I knew I could rely on my blog friends
as well as my real time family and friends.
Please continue to offer up thoughts and prayers
for this delightful little girl and her lovely little family.

Please Pray for My Little Emily

My little Emily is a very poorly little girl. She was transferred overnight to Alder Hey Childrens Hospital in Liverpool. She has serious kidney problems, high potassium levels and anaemia.

She is too little little and too young to be so poorly. Please send out healing thoughts and offer up you prayers for this gorgeous little girl.  Also for her mummy and daddy and big sister, my baby daughter is being so strong though all this. But they need to be held up and supported with all the love and prayers we can muster. Please help.

She is On her Way home.

Thank God, my medical head was right. Emily is on her way home as I write. Thank you so much for your prayers and best wishes, this has not been a good day, but God is good and my baby and her baby are on the way home. She has been told if any relapse she is to take here straight back to the hospital, but hopefully that will not be needed.

Again thank you so very much.

and Thank YOU my Dear Lord God for answered prayers.

My Little Emily

My youngest grandchild, the daughter of my youngest child, has been admitted to hospital this morning. She has been poorly with  vomiting bug for two weeks and is now like a little lifelelss rag doll.  My medical head is telling me a couple of hours on a drip and she will be fine. My Mother/Grandma heart is aching and I am worried for her.

Please if you are a believer can I ask you offer a little prayer for a delightful little girl.

Thank you.

Sore So Sore

Oh boy am I sore...My thighs, bum and tum ache like I have never known.  I did do exercise that I have never done before, so my body is going to complain isn't it?  So my plans to go to the gym every day are revises, rest day for the muscles today and to the gym tomorrow.

Another bright Spring day here today, long may it continue, it does lift the spirit and the soul doesn't it?
Going to work in daylight is a great boost and next week I will be coming home in daylight too Fabulous!

Well I am off to do some scrapbooking before work.
This project for my favourite doctor is coming together nicely now.

Have a Great Day;o)

Happy St David's Day

Happy St David's Day.

This is the day that herald's Spring for me. But the Daffodil's are late this year do to the unusally cold weather.  That should mean that there will be a glourious showing for Easter, my favourite holiday.  It is a time for repentance, renewal and rebirth and I love it.
But that is a month away so back to
St David's Day.
My son is called David John and his name means
David-Beloved John-Gift of God.
He IS my beloved son.

St David is the Patron Saint of Wales
so the Daffodils and Leeks  should be on show today.

My day has started well, been to the gym
had a really good workout with Lee
(think he has a bit of a sadistic streak)
I recall watching Biggest Loser
and the contestant's were throwing up while exercising....
I came close to it, so I must be doing it right...LOL

Have a Great Day Everyone
