Back To Basics

This is me going back to basics.
Going back to the beginning, using the tools
I have let go ove the past eight weeks or so.
Weighing and measuring everything.
Photographing everything I eat.

With an additional tool which arrived today.

I know this is what works for me, weighing and counting calories.  I also know alot of you do not agree with this method, but as they say , different strokes for different folks.  I am going to get back on track using these tools and that is what matters in the end.

I have had my first session with the Biggest Loser on the Wii and I'll tell you this much, it was hard work.
I plan to use it every day as long as I am not too sore.  Some of the yoga exercises were a no go area for me at the moment as my hands are complaining at the moment and I cannot weight bear on them at the moment.
Apart from that I completed the first session and felt quite proud of me.

I have had some stressful moments in work today and could have reached for the Christmas cake that is still there.  But I didn't, I had a pear and a satsuma instead. That my dear friends is progress.

I am still trying to learn how to link names and blogsites, can anyone give me a short and simple tutorial?

I must write every calorie down in the day, it's the only way I know how to stay on track. And I measure everything out (my family still laughs at me for doing this). One of these days I want to get a scale too. I saw one on qvc last week (a biggest loser scale) that looked good.
I'm glad to hear a 2 thumbs up on the wii biggest loser! I must add that to my list of things I need too lol. I use the biggest loser cardio dvd and I love it. It did take me a week or two till I could actually accomplish the 20 minutes with bob (and I still give up on the planks, I hate those).
Sounds like you are doing great, a high five for skipping the Christmas cake when you were stressed!! That's the hardest part for me.

You are 100% right to do what works for YOU!!! It's your journey and you will be successful!!! I left you an award on my post tonight. Christmas cake...yuck!!! You Brits and that awful stuff...I just don't get it! Well, the custard you put over it is good! :)

I think calorie counting ROCKS. It works, if I do it.

I got confused by the link question, so I deleted my comment relating to that. It takes me forever to link, so I'll not be much assistance with that.

I am, however, an advocate of calorie watching. I count and journal each day so I can see what I have done, and what I may be about to do. It works for me, and you should absolutely do whatever works for you. It's our journey, so why not do what is best for us?

Good for you on getting back to basics! My main things are weighing or measuring my food, journaling honestly, drinking my water, and planning exercise :)

Once I get my head right this is what works best for me and I actually enjoying getting as much food as possible for as few calories as possible- like filling your trolley at Matalan for a tenner!!!
Its always good to go back to basics ; it worked then and it will work again- see you Sunday love you xx

Getting back to basics is absolutely the answer. We've both already proved to ourselves that it works...why do we let ourselves stray??? I gained 3 lbs this week...what a moron! lol I, too, am counting every calorie this week and there will be 6 days of exercise without question. And you know, I feel so much better physically when I stop making excuses, being lazy, and actually DO what I know works.

I love the way you're expressing your gratitude in your posts. It humbles me. And I'm EXTREMELY proud of you for choosing fruit over cake. That had to feel good...it always does when we make the right choices.

And I just bought Jillian Michaels 30 day shred DVD today. Now I just have to figure out how to work the DVD player that I never use, lol. Hoping to try it out by Sunday and I will give a full report on my blog after Jillian punishes me. :)

P.S. I'm sorry, but I don't know how to do the links either. I was getting Pam to help me with mine when I first started blogging, and then I just said to hell with it, lol.

I don't know if there is a quicker way to do the links, but what I do is open up the blog of the person I want to link to. Copy (Ctl C) the http addy, then go to my blog post and highlight the person's name (or blog name) that I want to link to. Then click on the chain symbol at the top (the one inbetween the italic symbol and the quote marks) and paste (Ctrl V) the http addy in the box that pops up.

Well done on the back to basics stance, it is what works, so obviously suits you. Heh, enjoy the BL workouts, lol!

Hi Sheilagh. I think it is just whatever works for each person. There is no right or wrong. And having the right tools and knowing what works for you is great.

Are you working in the new version of blogger? If so just highlight the word you want to link and then click on "Link" on the toolbar. It opens a box to copy the website you want to link to. (To work in the new version you have to chose it by going through "settings" from Dashboard. It is on the first page under Global settings.)

In the old version highlight the word and then move your mouse over each icon in the toolbar until the label "insert link" comes up - it is a green blob (the earth probably!) with some black symbol over it. Click on this and the box comes up into which you copy the website.
