Weigh-In_Wednesday

Well I didn't get to Onderland for Christmas :o)  but it is no big deal.   Well it is a little bit of a deal, but nothing worth fretting about. I have had a 0.2lb's gain and I am ok with that considering the Season.  I am not bothering to tinker with my ticker for such a small change so it will show a STS this week.

It worked.  Staying away from my laptop worked, everything is done for Christmas, the house looks all cosy and Christmassy, all the presents are wrapped, just one batch of baking to be done after work today and thats it...   can't believe it.

The weather is yucky right now, I  know snow looks lovely from the window, and on Christmas cards. But the reality of the slush turning to ice and the possible consquences or not so nice.  There was a 16 car pile up  yesterday just down the road from where I work. All the roads in the vicinity were log jammed for over 6 hours.  It was no fun for folk getting home last night. The rumours are the council had run out of grit?  How can you run out of grit when we have only had two icey days? There were no serious injuries, but there will be a a fair few cars off the road this Christmas...

Patients were chatting yesterday as they were waiting for the jam to clear. The main topic was Christmas's past, and why everytrhing seems to grind to a halt nowadays after a bit of snow. It was decided we all rely too much on cars now. I remember as a child, we as a family thought nothing of walking six miles in snow to get to my gran's house at Christmas, we would be freezing cold by the time we got there, but would soon thaw out by the fire with my gran or one of my auntie's rubbing our hands or legs to get the heat back.  The memories came flooding back as we all chatted away, it was great.

So I was wondering, any memories of Christmas to share out there folks?  I would love to hear them.

Yay, well done on getting it all done - I have a bit of frantic rushing around to do today, lol!

It is really bad here too, side roads aren't clear at all, but the main roads are reasonable.

It is hard to watch the weight now with so many dinners etc - one can just do our best, but new year will be upon us before we know it and we can get tough then.

My Christmas memories are quite simple, the best are from when my son was little really.

Have a wonderful time!

Glad you are all comfy and cozy. My fave Christmas memory was the morning I was 6 and woke up before anyone and opened all the gifts to me. Man did I get in trouble! ( that was just a forewarning of things to come, if they only knew ) It was a present opening frenzy while it lasted. My poor poor mom and dad.

Great attitude on the weigh in. You are sounding quite peaceful latley. Merry Christmas!

My sister said that the snow has all but shut London down! Her car got stick on a hill in Upper Norwood and she had to abandon the car and sleep at a friend's house. What kind of Canadian is she???

You WILL hit Onderland! I believe in you!

Hi Sheilagh. Nothing has been gritted here. It's unbelievable. When I walked into town on Monday the place was like an ice rink. Absolutely trecherous. Luckily when I was out today it was a little less cold so I had no problems which is just as well as I was carrying heavy shopping bags.

I grew up in the North and we had 5 foot snow drifts every year. But everyone managed just fine. Snowploughs and gritters were out constantly. I loved the sort of silence that snow brings.

In all the (17) years I've lived in the south I've never seen more than a cm of snow on the ground! I've seen none yet this year. Just ice from the rain.

Glad you've got everything done - no last minute rushing! You can just relax and enjoy it.

Peace, calm and happiness to you.

I hope you had a great Christmas! I did gain a couple pounds but that's ok, I'll get them off yet :)
I remember growing up in NE Michigan we always had lots of snow during the holidays. Seems like all Chrismas break all of the neighbor kids would gather. We would sled and build snow forts till we couldn't feel our fingers or toes. Then all go home to warm up with hot chocolate. I think too many people rely on their '4x4 suv's' and think that they don't have to drive slow and carefull on it now. Back then, we all slowed down our driving and were more careful maybe. So the thought of driving in snow wasn't as scarey as it is now lol
