I'm a Believer.

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.  The six weeks leading up to the most solemn and the most joyful occasion in the Christian calendar. I am going to be using this coming six weeks to examine my relationship with God.

I am a "lapsed catholic" and I have issues. At this stage of my life I feel the need to examine, my beliefs, my conscience, my aspirations. This is going to bring up some painful stuff that is for sure. There are family issue's, religious issues, personal agonising, personal doubts, personal history.

What I do not have is doubts about the living Christ. I believe in Him wholeheartedly, I just need to know He believes in me.  So I am setting off on a journey tomorrow, a journey I hope will bring me everlasting peace and JOY in knowing God loves ME.

That's a lot of different issues, that's for sure, but..."I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor ANYTHING else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39

The next six weeks will help you to believe that the above is true for you, personally. God is faithful; He will meet you.

Sounds to me like you have ditched religion for a relationship with Christ!!!! He loves that.

God bless you on your journey over the next six weeks Sheilagh. I believe we all have a spiritual home, a place where our spirit finds comfort and peace. I know where mine is and I am grateful for that. You will find yours too. I always believed in God and in Jesus Christ, but it took a long while for me to realize that they cared for ME personally. That is a beautiful awakening that is life transforming for sure. I am sending you lots of love to help you along on your spiritual journey! (((hugs)))

Good luck with your Lenten season. Unlike so many others, I try not to focus on "giving something up", but "adding something to" my life during the season. God wants us to be happy, after all.

I am with you all the way on using this Lent to reconnect with you faith and your relationship with God. 17 years of Catholic school and decades of religion in my past left me "wanting." I, too, am looking for peace and reconnection with God. I think there might be a big difference between religion and true faith. I wish you the best and pray the next 40 days will bring you peace and the answers you seek.
