Pierogies are dough envelopes (like raviolis) stuffed with mashed potatoes, then boiled. They are usually served with melted butter and fried onions poured over them.
Often, cheese or saur Kraut is added to the potatoe stuffing. Not being of Eastern European descent, I had my first pierogie at the age of 32--and fell in love with them.

Closet doors closed, too, and I miss my mother lots. I went to a friend's mother's funeral this afternoon and I've been thinking of my mother all the rest of the day. Not sure who I'd choose for a concert, but got to see Michael Buble a few years ago and it was wonderful. Love to see him again. You and Ralph are in my prayers.
I love pierogies and make my own from scratch. They are like a noodle dough stuffed with things, like potatoes and cheese, sauerkraut, etc. I like the potato and cheese ones, which I boil, and then fry in butter with lots of onions until they are all brown and crispy in bits. Dollops of sour cream on top are very enjoyable too. Darn it, now I am wanting |Pierogies and it's only breakfast time! xxoo
